Mr. Jones served as one of the directors of Florida Banks from April 1998 until its acquisition in July 2004. Since 2000, Mr. Jones has been Chairman and CEO of JMJ Capital, a family-owned real estate and investment business. From 1995 to 2000, Mr. Jones was a senior executive at The St. Joe Company and, from 1990-1994, was Vice Chairman and CEO of FloridaBank, FSB.
Prior to joining Florida Capital Bank, Mr. Owston spent 20 years with Wachovia Bank (formerly First Union). He opened the bank’s first loan production office in Tampa in 1984. During his career with Wachovia Bank, Mr. Owston served in various leadership and business development roles within the Central Florida market. Prior to joining Wachovia Bank, Mr. Owston was a commercial banker with SunTrust Bank in Orlando. Mr. Owston is active in the community, serving as a member of the Junior Achievement of Central Florida board of directors and leadership task force. He is also a former board member of the Greater Orlando Chamber of Commerce and is the former chair of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Mid Florida Chapter. He has been involved in various fundraising activities within the Central Florida area during his 30 years in the community.
Mr. Morrill joined Florida Capital Bank as Chief Financial Officer in May 2005. As CFO, he is responsible for financial reporting and analysis, strategic and profit planning, asset and liability management and treasury functions. Mr. Morrill chairs the Bank’s Asset Liability Committee. Mr. Morrill brings more than 25 years of financial management experience within the banking and financial services industries to Florida Capital Bank. Previously, Mr. Morrill was with Bombardier Capital as Vice President of Strategic Planning and held various finance positions with Barnett Banks, Inc., (now Bank of America), including CFO of the Orlando affiliate, Director of Finance for the North Region Banking Group and Director of Finance for Commercial Banking.
Mr. Higel serves as Chief Operations Officer. He is responsible for products and services, computer operations, treasury management, bank operations and the generation of electronic payment income. Mr. Higel brings more than 30 years of diverse commercial banking experience to Florida Capital Bank. Prior to joining Florida Capital Bank, Mr. Higel served as Senior Operations Officer of Florida Banks. Before his association with Florida Banks, Mr. Higel served as the Chief Financial Officer of SunTrust of Volusia County and was the Chief Financial Officer of several divisions within Bank of America (formerly Barnett Banks, Inc.), where he worked for several consumer lending units. He began his banking career with Atlantic Bank, where he worked in bank operations and was an Audit Manager. Mr. Higel graduated from the University of Florida, where he received his bachelor’s degree in accounting. Mr. Higel is a certified public accountant and also holds a master’s degree in business administration.
Mr. Parrella joined Florida Capital Bank in January 2006 as the Senior Credit Officer for C&I and Consumer. Since being appointed the Chief Credit Officer in 2007, he has implemented comprehensive improvements to our credit risk management processes which have been validated by the regulators and third party examiners. Mr. Parrella brings more than 29 years of diverse commercial banking experience to Florida Capital Bank. Prior to joining our company, Mr. Parrella served as a Senior Vice President / Senior Risk Officer for Bank of America. In this role, he functioned as a credit partner for multiple commercial banking groups, including general industries, health care, not-for-profit and government. Prior to that, he served in a variety of risk management and commercial group leader roles for Barnett Banks, Inc. (now Bank of America), and for Southeast Bank (now Wells Fargo). Mr. Parrella received an undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Virginia and masters of business administration from the University of South Florida.
Ms. Sammet serves as Chief Human Resources Officer. She is responsible for strategic and comprehensive human resources solutions to mitigate operational risk and to support overall Bank operations. Direct activities include recruitment, talent and performance management, succession planning, benefits administration, organizational development/re-design, compensation, reward/recognition and other ongoing related human resources activities. Prior to joining Florida Capital Bank, she was employed with Bank of America as Personnel Executive for the Risk Management Division and also served as Division Business Manager for Bank of America’s Southeast Consumer Division. She joined Bank of America following the acquisition of Barnett Banks, Inc., where she served as Human Resources Director for several divisions within Barnett Bank’s holding company. She began her human resources career with Lockheed Martin in Orlando. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management. Ms. Sammet is an honors graduate of Florida Southern College, where she received her undergraduate degree in business administration.
